Our Philosophy
School & Fun Rolled Into One!
At "The Growing Place Preschool" we recognize that children are unique and learn at different rates and in different ways. We provide a diverse curriculum that is child-centered with hands-on exploration.
Multi-Age Preschool
Many schools place children in age segregated classrooms. The Growing Place Preschool believes in multi-aged groupings where children from ages 1 to 2 for toddlers and 3 to 5 for preschool share the same classroom. This practice has many advantages including:
- Children gain experience interacting with others whose abilities and skills differ from their own, much like adults do.
- Children develop long term quality relationships with their teachers
- Learning is based on the individual, so no class levels are evident, therefore children are not held back, or rushed into the next class
- Enhanced self-esteem and effective learning from peer inter-dependence and modeling

About The Owner
Mrs. Renee
Hello! My name is Renee Doonan. I was born and raised just South of Kansas City in Drexel, Missouri and attended Southwest Missouri State University, where I earned my degree in Early Childhood Development. I went on to teach 8 years of Kindergarten in Lake Ozark, Missouri, before moving with my family to Alaska. In Alaska, I feel I found my true passion and calling when I started my own Preschool, Room to Bloom. I found that I truly enjoyed using my previous Kindergarten experience to develop curriculum that best prepared 1-5 year olds for Kindergarten. I love working with young children and their families to help them enjoy their school experiences.
